The rods used in pillars, decking, and foundations in building construction works are steel rebar, also known as reinforcing bars:
Rebar
A steel bar that’s used to reinforce concrete in a variety of building elements, including pillars, decks, and foundations. Rebar is placed inside the concrete formwork and creates an interlocking pattern that helps prevent cracks. Rebar can also be made from aluminum or other metals.
Steel rods
Circular steel bars with a corrugated finish that are used in construction to adhere to concrete, absorb pressure, and prevent slippage. Steel rods are resistant to extreme temperatures, flames, pests, and earthquakes.
Steel rebar is used to improve the flexibility of concrete and reduce the amount of concrete needed. Concrete on its own is not a flexible material and can crack under high pressure and temperatures
